Shifting attention to faces in busy environments allows us to learn about our surroundings and the people around us. By exploring the types of faces and face features that capture and hold our attention, I've uncovered how our attention system prioritizes social information.

Infants are born into a visually complex, stimulus-rich world. Across the first year of life, infants learn to direct their attention to the parts of their environments that are meaningful and relevant to their goals. I am interested in how individual differences (visual acuity, experience) and scene differences (saliency, complexity) interact to contribute to looking behaviors.
Studying pre-verbal and rapidly developing infants can be a challenge. I am always seeking innovative and reliable ways to measure cognitive processes during development.
Methods
Prior to my research in developmental sciences, I worked as an undergraduate research assistant investigating food-related behaviors in mice. I specifically examined food predictability and taste receptors.
